Preston Fox, Esq., CPA
Preston has been Shareholder and President of Geib & Fox CPAs, PC since its inception in 2000. Prior to that, he was a staff accountant with one of the oldest CPA firms in Aspen. He graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from George Washington University in 1988. Preston received his law degree with an emphasis in taxation from the University of Colorado in 1996. His legal and CPA backgrounds combine effectively in the areas of tax planning, entity formation, transactional work, real estate, estate planning and business management. He splits his time evenly between tax advice and preparation, business management and other legal matters.
Preston practices law through the Law Offices of Preston Fox, PC, a separate, wholly owned professional corporation.
Preston is a member of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Bar Association (real estate and estate section member). He sits on the board of a nonprofit entity, Achieve KidsTri, a program to educate and train disadvantaged youth in health, nutrition and exercise, while also assisting with other nonprofits in the Valley.
In his spare time, Preston enjoys spending time with his wife Michelle and son Brody, as well as skiing, hiking and mountain biking.
James R. Geib, CPA
Jim is Vice President and a Shareholder of Geib & Fox CPAs, P.C. He started James R. Geib and Associates, CPA, PC in 1997 which became Geib and Fox CPAs P.C. in 2000. Jim has been practicing public accounting in Aspen since graduating from the University of Colorado in 1989 with a Bachelors of Science degree in Business Administration and Accounting. His professional experience includes advising clients on tax matters, income tax preparation as well as business development and management consulting. Jim has been qualified as an expert witness in numerous litigation support matters and also provides business valuation services.
Jim is a member of the Colorado Society of CPAs, and provides pro-bono work to various nonprofit organizations in the Roaring Fork Valley including Aspen Junior Golf and is a board member of the Aspen Hope Center.
Jim enjoys skiing, biking, horseback riding, boating and adventure travel.
Tara Sweckard, CPA
Tara joined Geib & Fox in February of 2012. She graduated from the University of Georgia in 2004 as a Presidential Scholar with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. Tara obtained her CPA license in 2006 while working for Deloitte Tax LLP in Atlanta, Georgia as a Senior Tax Accountant in the Lead Tax Services department. After four years at Deloitte Tax LLP, she moved to Los Angeles in 2008 where she worked for David Weise & Associates, a Business Management Firm. In 2009, she moved to Aspen, Colorado where she decided to take a break from the accounting world. For two years, she enjoyed everything that the Roaring Fork Valley has to offer. In 2012, she decided to make Aspen her home and begin her career as a CPA at Geib & Fox. Her professional experience includes preparation of federal and state tax returns for complex individuals, closely held corporations, S Corporations, Partnerships, Consolidated Corporations, Tax-Exempt Organization, as well as International filings. She also has experience in Business Management, analyzing net worth, liquidity, spending trends and budgets for individuals and businesses.
In her spare time, Tara enjoys traveling, snowboarding, hiking, biking, boating, camping, tennis, and horseshoes.
Cara moved to Aspen in 1983 upon graduating from SUNY Farmingdale, NY with an A.S. in Medical Technology. She began working in administration for Aspen Highlands Skiing Corp. She took an affinity to finance and attended continuing education classes at Colorado Mountain College in business and accounting. In 1989, she went to work for TAO, Inc. as a business and finance client manager, where she worked for 24 years until joining Geib and Fox, PC. Cara enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons in Aspen and spending leisure time on the island of Kauai, HI with friends.
Nathan moved to Colorado in 2006 after completing his Masters in Accountancy at Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA. He obtained his CPA during his 6 years at Hein & Associates, LLP where he worked as an Audit Manager and met his wife Stephanie. Nathan spent the next 7 years in private industry working as a Controller and Director. His professional experience includes audits of small businesses and publicly traded entities across many industries, accounting system development and implementation, internal control review, management reporting, budgeting, strategic planning, and operation management. Nathan enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children, Abel and Nora, fly fishing, skiing, camping and hiking.
Caitlyn is an Aspen native and graduate of Colorado Rocky Mountain School, where she was the first girl on the snowboarding team. She graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Liberal Arts, Concentration in Social Sciences and a Native American Studies Certificate. She continued her education studies at Keller Graduate School of Management in Accounting. When she's not in the office, Caitlyn loves traveling, spending time with her family, and chasing after and two dogs Lily & Alfie.
Anita graduated from Szeged University, located in Szeged, Hungary in 2001 with a bachelor's degree in English. She wanted to learn how to ski and moved to Aspen in 2005. She originally joined Geib and Fox in July of 2008. After taking some time off to raise a family, she rejoined our team in 2020. When she is not working, Anita enjoys spending time with friends and family and everything outdoors.
