QB Receiving/Restoring Portable Files


Receiving the Portable Backup as an attachment to an email:

Open the email message

Right click on the attachment

Send it to your desktop - or -

Click: Save as

Save in: Desktop (with whatever file name it has)

Restoring a Portable Backup:

Open Quickbooks (but don't have any company open)

Choose: Open or restore an existing company

Choose: Restore a portable file

Click: Next (It will then ask you where you want to open it from)

Look in: Desktop (Choose your desktop)

It will then ask you where you want to restore it

Click: Next

Save in: Wherever you save your QuickBooks company data

This may take several minutes

You should then receive a message that says it has successfullly opened the portable company file

Click: OK
